Medical & Provisional Licence. The first step to obtaining a full LGV or PCV driving licence is to obtain a Provisional licence. In order to do this a medical form (D4) will need to be completed by a Doctor. The medical can be done by your own Doctor or even better by using our company Doctor. Our Doctor visits our training centre every week (mostly at a weekend) to carry out medicals. When you attend our training centre for your medical, we will assist you with the completion of the other form that you are required to fill in. All the completed forms will then be sent by us along with your current driving licence and the payment to the DVLA at Swansea. At the time of the medical, we will provide a theory book to study while you are waiting for your licence to arrive back. Currently, licences are taking between 1 week and 3 weeks to arrive back. When they are sent back they will come directly to the address on your licence. The Theory Test. When you receive the licence back from the DVLA, we can then book a theory test for you. We have theory test pre booked at centres in Doncaster, Leeds and Sheffield. Other centres are available if required. We also offer help with the theory test at our training centre. A computer is available to do some mock tests and do the Hazard Perception test. The theory test is now in 2 parts, a multi choice test and a hazard perception test. Both tests are carried out at the same time and both tests need to be passed at the same time. if either test is failed, both tests will need to be done again. The theory test is a computer based multi choice test in which 35 question will need to be answered. The pass mark is 30 and you are allowed 40 minutes to complete the test. The hazard perception test is a series of 14 video clips, 13 of which contain 1 hazard and 1 of which contain 2 hazards. We have a computer dedicated to Hazard Perception that is available to use, free of charge. When the theory test has been completed successfully, a practical driving test can be booked and the relevant driver training under taken.
