To obtain a PCV (Cat ‘D’ or ‘D1’) licence, candidates must be at least 18 years old and hold a full car (Cat ‘B’) licence. The first stage is to obtain a PCV Provisional Licence. To obtain the provisional entitlement, a medical will need to be undertaken and a licence application sent, along with the completed medical form, to the DVLA at Swansea. At L&T, we offer a free driving assessment to all our candidates, enabling our instructor to establish what training should be required. The training can be tailored to suit your own needs. We operate 7 days a week and into the late evenings practical tests pre booked so training can be arranged around the driving test. There are two groups of PCV’s, basically mini-bus and coach. The same procedure for licensing and training will be required to pass either class of vehicle. If the mini-bus option is taken, only small PCV’s can be driven for hire or reward (up to 16 passenger seats). If a test is passed in our large 39-seat coach with a manual gearbox, any size of PCV can be driven for hire or reward. (Single or double decked)
