    Category B+E Car and trailer

We regularly have drivers through our school who have been driving cars and trailers illegally for some time, and there will be many more. This is an area of the driving law that has changed and so passes un-noticed.

The Law:Car drivers, who passed their test before January 1997, automatically gained an entitlement to drive cars pulling a trailer above 750kgs. Anyone passing after this time, wishing to pull things like horse boxes, caravans and large car trailers will need to pass a test.

What Next:To obtain a B+E licence, candidates must be at least 17 years old and hold a full car (Category ‘B’) licence. A Provisional Category ‘BE’ licence will be automatically issued with a full car licence.

A driving assessment is the next stage, enabling our instructor to establish what training is required. The training can be tailored to suit your own needs. We operate 7 days a week and have practical tests pre booked so training can be arranged around the driving test.

We have our own vehicle for training or training can be arranged using your own vehicle if required. It is also possible to use your own vehicle to pull our trailer. This would enable you to drive your car to our training centre and pick up our trailer and instructor.
